3321 Genre Presentation " Spider"
I loved your presentation, very informative. Children at this age should be introduced to many topic like this. Due to the TEKS test I believe topic like this are not touched mushed. Science is not a priority not until they are in the older levels. they are pretty much on their own ,but I believe as a future teacher we need to more of what you guys did. I LOVED YOUR activity and presentation.

Well I just want to share! My group work very hard with this Genre. I want to thank them. when we first got the topic we were all motivated, confused and excited. We all brain stormed talked, shared ideas and finally agreed on the story. I have never worked with an awesome team like this. I want to thank Ms. Pickett for allowing us to grade each other, again I have never had a an instructor who has done this. We felt like children once again and it felt good! We also learned something new from each other. I always ask the good lord to give me patience as I learn and to open minded when I work with other people. I had the most wonderful experience as we worked together. Thanks Guys I hope we have each other again!
Best wishes and God Bless all of you!

3321 Guided Shared Reading
Guided Shared reading is shared reading time during which the teacher provides support for small, flexible groups of beginning readers. The teacher helps students learn to use reading strategies, such as context clues, letter and sound knowledge, and syntax or word structure, as they read a text or book that is unfamiliar to them. The goal of guided reading is for students to use these strategies independently on their way to becoming fluent, skilled readers. Guided reading is encouraged in Elementary schools especially the early years in 1st grade. I believe guided reading works wonderful, My daughter is in First Grade and she gets so motivated to read with her group and teacher, she pushes her self to keep up with her group and shze also learn from her peers as she helps her class mates.
Ch 6 Traditional Literature 3321 M-W
Traditional literature is a genre that deals with stories that were first oral and were written down at a later date. Traditional literature consists of songs, stories, poems and riddles from different sources. There are many different kinds or forms of traditional literature ( myths, fables, epics, ballads, legends, folk rhymes, folktale's, fairy tales, hero tales and much more .) Many of this tales sounds similar to other tales. some of this tales are appreciated more than others. For instance Little Red Riding Hood, Cinderella, and Snow White, Etc. Their many Mexican Legends or myths in my culture that are very similar to American Folk tales and Myhts. For examples " Duendes" Tiny little people in which here we call them elves. Traditional literature is a very important part in children's literature. Traditional stories and poems need to have , plots, rhymes or rhythms to be remembered.
ch 7 Picture Books 3321 M-W
when I was growing up I was not a reader neither was I encourage to read. Now I am story teller and I love to read. I believe picture books are so important because children could look at the pictures and more less predict what will happen. When they are first learning how to read they could also look at the picture and try to sound off the words. In picture books their is no boundaries no matter what language you speak children can more less get an idea of what the author and illustrator are trying to say. Picture books are books that combines visual and verbal narratives. A picture books tell a story with words and illustrations. Pictures books are my favorite.

3344 M-W Expository
In my Expository writing I created a folder for First graders.
Visual Aid
First Grade Spelling Buddy
Word Challenge Notebook
This Visual Aid was created to help students enhance their vocabulary.
As a class every week, students will be introduced to a least 6 to 11 Sight words and at least to 5 High Frequency Words. After being introduced to the words, students will have an opportunity to work with a buddy with this activity. This activity is to be explained and guided by the teacher until students understand the concept. Once the students understand the concept it can be done with their buddy during center time.
Goal: My goal is to have at least three to four of these visual spelling notebooks. With more visual aids like this in my Word Wall area, more students will have an opportunity to practice their spelling words and sight words.
Incentive: Students will earn a star for every activity accomplished. Some activities can earn two stars. At the end of the week students who have earned all stars will get to choose a prize from the treasure box.

The Dog who had Kittens excellent First Grade Book my daughter and my niece like this book they both have different opinions in this story.
This book is great for out loud reading and silent reading.
This book is about a Dash Hound named Baxter who falls in love with Eloise a cat who just had kittens. Baxter is forbidden to get near the kittens, but his curiosity gets him in trouble.when Eloise is not around Baxter plays with kittens and cares for them. At the end the kittens are given away and Eloise feels lonely and sad. Eloise notices that Baxter is sad and hurt because he misses the kittens and thanks him and comforts him. This is a moving story. Many questions can be brought up as a great conversation. I truly recommend this book.

when I first heard about this topic it was upsetting, Here we have wealthy women who have everything they want to have. Unfortunately morals and values can not be bought with money. The same way they come out and talk about Marijuana, they should have the courage to show their identity. Obviously not, since they were interview was in the dark. I ask myself how does this affect me, They are promoting "how to kill your brain cells". This topic means a lot to me because I grew up in a violent neighborhood where many kids were smoking weed doing all kinds of drugs. Their were big tough gangs every day, I had to see this, smell it and go through it, because my neighbors were always getting high. Thank God, I only got discouraged because of the out comes in their behavior. Statics show that the strength of today's marijuana is as much as ten times greater than the marijuana used in the early 1970s. One major concern about marijuana is its possible effects on young people as they grow up. Research shows that the earlier people start using drugs, the more likely they are to go on to experiment with other drugs. In addition, when young people start using marijuana regularly, they often lose interest and are not motivated to do their schoolwork. This drug is danger to society and as a future teacher and adult we need to have high standards for our selves and students. We are already corrupted with media junk and interviewing these ding dongs does not make it any better, only if they would have shown their faces. I believe that we need to not let idiots like this influence our kids. I ask myself then why do we have the DARE Program in Texas?
By the way why do their employees have to take a drug test. O. K enough to personal!
Thanks for listening, Did I vent?

Apple Picking Time I read this book to a second grade class, the students really enjoyed it. I read them this book back in November, before the Thanksgiving Holidays,
the students were talking and reflecting and relating to the story. This book could be read to introduce the fall season. This book has rich Autumn colors and has a bit of Americana History. Anna and her extended family help with the town's traditional fall apple harvest.

The Snowy Day This book is about a young boy who explores his neighborhood after a snow fall in his neighborhood. This a great book, I would use in my class room to encourage students about writing a narrative story of an adventure they have experience. This book gives great beginning, middle, and end. The story concentrates in giving descriptive details of his adventure.
