3321 Guided Shared Reading
Guided Shared reading is shared reading time during which the teacher provides support for small, flexible groups of beginning readers. The teacher helps students learn to use reading strategies, such as context clues, letter and sound knowledge, and syntax or word structure, as they read a text or book that is unfamiliar to them. The goal of guided reading is for students to use these strategies independently on their way to becoming fluent, skilled readers. Guided reading is encouraged in Elementary schools especially the early years in 1st grade. I believe guided reading works wonderful, My daughter is in First Grade and she gets so motivated to read with her group and teacher, she pushes her self to keep up with her group and shze also learn from her peers as she helps her class mates.
