3321 M-WThe Path of Needles or Pins: Little Red Riding Hood

Hello everyone I did not get to blog last week. I was reading The Path of Needles or Pins:
Little Red Riding Hood, I was eating my breakfast when I was reading the story, not a good idea you see, I visual what I read and I visual it in detail. So first of all this story is pretty graphic. This folk tale has been written over and over giving us more less the same plot but as we read them we analyze them, interpret them depending on each of our own social attitudes, traditions, and behavior we base our experiences and we then criticize the stories. There are a few things that I liked about the story compared to other Red Riding Hood stories, how Little Red Writing hood ran away and out smart the wolf. The only thing I think that I saw risky was that Little Red Riding Hood allowed the wolf to get to close to her. I did not like the way the wolf ate the Grandma that was too much detail. I wonder how those children that were read this tale, affected them. Now a days I know that many kids read wYou can worst things than this or better yet watch horror movies way more graphic. I believe that I had a choice of using this story I would probably use this folk tale with middle School Students, we would do a compare and Contrast assignment with the same story but written by different authors. I would read the more revised Little Red Riding Hood to the younger kids and more less implementing an assignment about, trust, obedience, do not talk to strangers. There are many things that I could do with this story, and I am sure the students would learn a lot and enjoy it.

  1. If the story is that graphic I totally agree that it should be read to an older age group! It's good that the traditional story isn't like that but, I have found that the closer you get to the original story the more graphic they become. That is something we as future teachers must think about. Good Blog!!

  2. I agree some of the folks tales are made for the older children. Teachers should pick the appropriate books for the age group.
