This is a very good book written by Robert Munsch, a Canadian Author. This a story about a little boy named Lance, he loves dressing up for Halloween, but this time he decides to paint his face very scary. Lance goes trick or treating scaring the neighbors and stealing candies. This is an awesome story, especially with Halloween coming up I would do a mini lesson. I would read this book during my writing time. Before reading I would ask the students to pay attention to beginning, middle and end.
Then I would ask them to go back and do their writing of a scary moment. For them to concentrate on their beginning, middle, and end. Also this is a great book that uses a lot of Onomatopoeia which is using words that imitate the sound that make noise. Example: Whaa! Whaa!
